On June 3, Taylor Regional Hospital hosted a kickoff event for its Eat Better, Feel Better program focusing on improving the health of the Campbellsville area through healthy, local food. The event featured Kentucky Department of Agriculture Commissioner Jonathan Shell, with State Senator Max Wise and State Representative Michael “Sarge” Pollock in attendance.
The hospital will host a farmer’s market weekly throughout the summer. Each week, the hospital is purchasing the produce that’s not sold to use in the facility. The hospital also provides $5 Farmer Bucks coupons for members of the public to use at the market.
Taylor Regional Hospital CEO Mike Everett, who discussed the hospital’s dedicated work on this new initiative, noted that, “Hospitals are often thought of as a place for rescue care, but we want you to come to the hospital to be healthy and our team members will keep you out of the hospital. We’re going to keep eating better, we’re going to keep feeling better, and we’re going to that one bite at a time.”
